I feel something nearly unexplainable when I sense just the right time to click the shutter. It’s in a pause where I try to communicate how it might feel to be alive in the very second the photograph captures. My wedding work is a true collaboration between photographer and subject: I bring experience, passion and curiosity and you bring your love, your planning, your people and a playful, open heart! Stealthily, I look for the most celebrated, intimate moments without getting in the way. My clients have told me that I’m everywhere and nowhere, all at once! I engage and I direct, when necessary (those formal portraits? I actually make them fun and painless), but mostly I like to let the day unfold naturally, which leads to a blend of fashion, fine art and photojournalistic capture of your day.
In 1999, I moved from Flint, MI to Santa Barbara, CA to attend the esteemed Brooks Institute of Photography. I founded my business in 2001. Since then I’ve shot for Real Simple, Domino, Travel & Leisure, Sunset Magazine. My work has been featured in Brides, Modern Bride and PDN.
I’ve been blessed to photograph weddings from Switzerland to the coast of Oregon and am always up for an adventure! I currently live in Berkeley, CA with my fiancé and our cat, Mr. Jenkins.
A few nifty facts about me:
- I have a redheaded nephew and a niece who looks just like me and I adore them both.
- I was charged by a mama giraffe in Tanzania.
- I’m short (5ft, to be exact)
- I’ve been in California over 10 years but I’m a true midwestern girl at heart.
